I liked the content are background and the header. The look professionally design and give the site a decent and interesting look. They really kept my attention, however the site's background it's to plain. It's almost as if the header would be from a site and the rest of the page would be from another site. There is no "linking" between the header and the content area in my opinion.
Good job with the design, but it needs a bit more work, try to do something with the sidebar border - the panel where you have the small thumbs of the pictures - and make the elements of the site stand out a bit more.
