hmm, i suggest checking out used cameras on ebay. if you are seriously into photography then don't waste your time with a silly little point and shoot. get a decent used camera (you can pick up a used canon rebel, a great budget camera, for cheap $$), and over time invest in better glass.
i was in the same position at age 18, and now not too many years later i have a nice little kit going.
