This has always come to my attention and i wanna know if it is somewhat true or not. If you have a bad design people will notice am i right? But if you put some humor into your design and its still a bad design will people overlook the bad part of the design because it made them laugh? Does laughter make the brain cancel out what is wrong with a design and make it ok to be bad if it is funny? Just a thought. I'm starting to believe this.

if the design is supposed to look rubbish, i think people will think 'that's awful, but i get where the designer's coming from'... same goes for humour in bad design for me 'that's an awful design, it made me smile... but it's still awful'.
I'm sure you can design something that is both funny and put together professionally... As a designer, I don't care if it's funny or not, if it's bad, I won't like it... but that's not to say a member of the public who is non very design savvy will think the same way... the public are generally uneducated sheep most of the time and will like something because the masses appreciate it. |
