With, 2008 coming to an end, does any of you have any predicitions which type of trends will be followed in lgo designing in 2009? I am sure, with more advancement and innovations, we will be able to contribute more to the designing world.

Well, the globe is dead, so I predict a square, or maybe a triangle...

ha wow the bubble/button effect i never saw the xerox one though.
im guessing design's going to get more grittier before it becomes slick again because of these freakin photoshop brushes that 13 year olds have but overall i think that it will become even more bubbly and futuristic without hard edges ofr new companies |

I can't speak for the design world as a whole, but I'm becoming a big fan of realistic textures and lighting that sets a mood [dramatic?]... it adds an element of tactility to an otherwise flat or glossed-over web.
I don't just mean "grit" (that's already playing out), but more subtle textures like metal or paper or "fuzz". Am I explaining myself well? |

Didn't notice that this thread was directed toward logo design... the above post pertains more to web design as a whole. Sorry!

Im thinking the whole 'glass button' thing. Have you noticed how common its getting? When i first saw them on the net or on vista i thought they were kinda cool. I learnt how to make them and used them once or twice but now theyre everywhere so i dont like them anymore.
It sucks sometimes that these head marketing managers will flick through a bunch of websites and magazines then throw them at you and go "make it look like that". Problem is, every marketing director is saying the same thing so something that once looked good, gets old real fast. So in saying that, as designers most of us are over the whole glass look, but marketing heads are just getting into it, so we will see alot more this coming year i think. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have noticed that logos are becoming more complex. What ever happened to keeping it simple so it can be used on multiple platforms?

That's a great point about the sphere shapes. I didn't realize there were so many of them until I saw them all together like that. I would assume for 2009 any new designs would have to do with technology advancement and futuristic looking images. Something in 3-D type styles. Companies have been messing with this for years and maybe finally they will break through and make things look truly 3-D without the use of the red and blue glasses.
Also touch screen is so big anymore that maybe logos will have some kind of button effect or something related to that. Not sure, just looking for inspiration in all places. There is so much out there to stimulate minds, who knows what you can find. |
