Default Remember when we just used pencils?

When did art get so complicated? I am making web graphics and in the beginning .gif was fine , you don't have to embed anything ..ya just post it and it works. As I am becoming more skilled .gif isn't working for me anymore ... a simple animation with transitions ect. ends up being almost 5MB . (try moving that around the web!) I know switching to .avi will solve the file size problem , but is there a file type that will also play when posted without additional programs ..I cannot stand a frame with playback controlls on my graphics !
Sarah
Also where is a good site for uploading monster files?

I suck at drawing thats why I use photoshop etc.

For me, using a pencil is more complicated.

The worst part of graphic design for me is either the torture of getting things to print the right color or the fact there is just so much technical stuff to learn it can be mind boggling.

for animation for the web, I'm sorry to say, flash is the best tool. Although as I've said I'm still a sucker for dirty gifs
And yeah, I agree with Gino, THE worst part of graphic design is when you are doing a logo or something and spends hours looking at that blasted pantonefan trying to find the excact reddish brown color that you need, especially when you find out that when printed on a regular printer it looks pink >_<

We need engineers. We could be the big time creative juice and not worry about pink printing and file types . Just come up with a fantastic idea and send it to the engineers to worry about the technical details. Graphic Engineers .... somebody make that happen!
