Some poster of another forum asked me this.

Thanks for the checking it out and the comment. To answer your questions: I mostly hang out around Threadless, Design by Humans, and CPLUV. They're all great inspirations. I started playing with Photoshop and Illustrator at high-school, but started doing vector stylized works 3 years ago (I just turned 22 ). I guess the best advice I can give you is look at other people's work for ideas(Design is Kinky, CPLUV Fairspot for great links) and apply it to your own style.I'm still at college right now, so I don't have a full-time gig. I freelance for a couple of clients every now and then, and I've been a summer intern for the past 2 summers. Salary is not great, but you're in it for the experiences, which is very beneficial for your resume and in the long run. The tip I can give is that when starting out, money is not the first priority, getting the job is. Sometimes you gotta offer to do the job for free (its great for portfolio, and the word of mouth advertising you're going to get). Find some local bands, bars and offer to do their posters, tees, or flyers for free. Its all about pimping up your portfolio. Motivation? Haha, I guess just doing what you love and still getting paid. If you have anymore questions feel free to contact me anytime. Good luck with everything. Cheers. Herman.
