Default Quality Logo Design Test

I plan on creating logos for you the designer and your design forums soon ( the current ones being temporary place holders) and I was thinking about fav icons which are the little bookmarking 16x16 symbols for websites.

As you learn about logo design they teach you that a logo should be able to reproduce well at small and large sizes and I think the fav icon is the ultimate small size test. If your logo has a symbol test it at 16x16 pixels to see if it holds up well!

The SIRIUS dog logo is a pretty good example: http://www.sirius.com/

This is a total noobish question, but I have a favicon ready, but where do I upload it to for it to show up on my blog?
I'm using filezilla if anyone knows I would be much appreciative.

It goes in ur root folder the main folder. I forget if you need a bit of code in the header file to make it show or not. and it should be named favicon.ico i save it as a gif and ten rename it.

Yeah I've always wanted to know how to setup fav icons. If you guys come across a guide or something post the link!

You know Gino I actually kind of like the logos for the forum and your blog as a typeface. You don't always have to go with imagery for a logo. Maybe just tweak the type some more. Add just a little treatment to it and you could be set. One community that comes to mind is Behance, just a simple typeface = their logo.

All you need to do for most browsers is upload a 16x16 pixel icon named favicon.ico to the root of your server so it can be found at www.yoursite.com/favicon.ico. I usually make the icon in Photoshop, export to PNG, then convert to ICO using one of the dozens of free online tools for the purpose (check out http://www.favicons.cc).

To explicitly define the favicon for the best possible browser support (or to define different favicons for different sections of your site, for instance), add a line link such in the <head> of your document:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" />

This is the quick/dirty version, but hopefully you'll find it helpful.
