Default What Camera do you Wield?

I really would like to upgrade to a more professional camera so I'd like to know what everyone is using and or recommends. Al i have right now is a basic 8mp cannon powershot, but its really just for taking family photos and stuff like that since its compact and easy to carry around.

So list what you got, want or would recommend here in terms of cameras!

Nikon D70S with 100-300 zoom and SB-800 flash is what I use.

I could have a long list of recommendations for cams I know them very well.

Olympus E-510, and I love it. It's lightweight, it's easy to use, it's powerful and takes great highquality pictures. Plus, you can use the display instead of pressing your eye against that teensy weensy looking-thingy (that I don't remember the name of in Norwegian). You can also adjust light (shutterspeed) and aperture, and see the changes live on the display.

It's the best camera I have ever used, it's amazing really. And I think the price on it is good too, considering the quality.

We've got 3 objectives, a normal 14-42 mm, a macrolens (50mm), and a 40-150mm, and a separate flash wich is ok, but could be better (and it sucks batteries from hell). But we use the flash rarely now, since this new camera has a buildt-in flash.

Our old camera still hangs around, but it don't get used much. That's an Olympus E-1

A manual Pentax K1000, a broken Sony Cybershot 4mp and a Canon EOS 1D mark II with no lens

I am of the belief that it's not the camera that makes you a good photographer, having an artists eye, knowing the camera you have and how to utilize it does.

All my travel photos are taken on a 200£ Sony Cybershot 4mp and they are my best and favorite photos.

Bruce Percy shares some thoughts on the subject here and I completely agree with him: http://www.thelightandtheland.com/pa.../thoughts.html

But really it depends on what type of photography you're into. If you do macro, get a good macro lens. For travel photography I'd recommend a small cheap compact camera as it's not as flashy and you can get closer to people cause it's not as intimidating as a massive camera with a 500mm lens. For fashion etc, it's probably an advantage to have a camera that can take higher resolution photos.

Kodak Easyshare c613

I'm not a photographer so it'll do for regular shots. If I had cash, the first thing I would thing I would do is get a new top of the line camera.

I have a Sony a-100, a good cam, it is a semi-pro I think or maybe a beginner class, as said it's a good cam but there is a problem with finding lenses or accesories to it, like if you have a nikon you can just stop by a photostore and pick up any lens you like, that is not hav it works with sony, on a up site they are making more and more cams, so they are getting there.

good luck hunting for cam,
you should buy a analog cam and make a darkroom, that is the coolest

peace

I use a Sony DSC-H5 which is good but not compact. It is a semi-DSLR kind of camera which lets you take amazing pictures. But, I love it since it lets me do whatever I want to - from amazing macro shots to teles (12X optical zoom is very useful).

If you really wanna upgrade to some DSLR I personally would go either for Canon or Nikon. But, again going for a DSLR requires a good investment on lens kits.

Canon XTi. Works great and has all the functionality you really need for awesome photos. If your not going pro quite yet but would like to up your photography game I would check it out. You can then take the money you save and get some badass lenses.

For a point and shoot I would go with a Canon Cybershot. I'm just waiting for one that shoots in RAW which they probably already have out.
