Default Jagged edges in web graphics

I was wondering, how do I get rid of jagged edges in an image with a transparent background?
I've tried saving for web (in photoshop) in both .gif and .png but the irritating jagged edges does not seem to be disappearing. Help?

Edit: I just realised that the jagged edges is more obvious when viewed on my pc laptop compared to my macbook. Is there a way to minimise the difference?

Is it possible for you to post the original image and the jagged edges one? PNG supports full alpha transparency so you shouldn't get any jagged edges.

I think it has to do with the bg color the image will be placed over try putting it over white. Can u show us what you are using it for?

Png's are optimal but I think there were some conflicts with IE. Were they fixed?

In IE 6.0 and later, the transparent area of a .png had a weird lightblueish hue, that has been fixed in 7.0.

I'm very bad at explaining this, but did you create this item with right click -> fill layer? If you have been doing it that way, then try to see if you had anti-alising on. (Just make another one.)

Another possibility is that you have resizing the item after creation. It might have destroyed the edges if you've been editing several layers at once.

Did that make any sence?

I redid the image and uploaded it, now it looks fine. Although I'm still confused why it didn't work the first time.
By the way, how do you if the anti-aliasing function is on?
