I want to know what dimensions should I design my website in? (Is there a recommended size?) I'm designing the site in Photoshop, cutting them into slices then importing them into DW.
Also, is there a way to fit a background image so that it changes to fit accordingly to browser size? |

Well, your best bet is to have either a plain colour or a repeating pattern. As for screen sizes, you're unlikely to have many visitors with a screen width of less than 1000 pixels, although the true minimum is about 800.

Depends on who your target audience is. Are you making a website for a hip cool playstation-game then you can asume everyone will have AT LEAST 1024 px wide screens, more often than not 1280. If you are designing for a local church in a tiny county in redneck-land then it's a different matter totally. W3C has some browser and resolution-stats, but they are very general.
