Default eCommerce Software

I'm currently working on a site for an online shop and I'll need some kind of shopping cart software for it. Does anyone here have experience with eCommerce software? If so can you recommend any? Or could it be done easily from scratch by a back end developer?

From scratch is tough cause then you need to make sure the whole site is protected with an SSL certificate and stuff it can get very complicated. You are better off using some one else's system like Paypal.

Paypal has great and semi-easy ways of adding payment methods to your site. They also have a great test area that I believe is called sandbox where you can set up a dummy version of your system to get it working correctly.

I'm trying to implement one of those open source e-commerce software on the website I'm working on as well. So far I've been recommended OSCommerce, Magento and PrestaShop. I'm not sure which is the best or easiest to use though.

Cheers guys. But I'll need a full shopping cart system. Paypal is just a payment processing service no?

I've been looking at this http://www.bluepark.co.uk/ but I don't know if it's any good. Have anyone here tried to build a site around an eCommerce template editor?
