Default Please Review My Blog

I have just finished tweaking my wordpress theme for my blog. I cleaned up the code and placed the ads differently. I would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to look it over and see what you think. If you notice anything that isn't working correctly please let me know.

Thank you

Adam

First of all I like the simple look It's clean and I'm not lost around the site.

Whilst I have little blog experience, I would suggest removing the adverts for the time being. Focus more on attracting regular visitors and less on trying to get clicks. Then after you have a nice stream of visitors you can start considering adverts. The only reason I suggest this is because the adverts are distracting and takes the reader away from the main content. Not to mention I hate adverts.

Also your header is a little plain, try and entice the reader with a really nice eye-catching header. Something that will contrast nicely with the content. Show off your blogs name with pride!

One last point is the spacing between your dotted lines is non-existent on the right hand side however where the blog posts are there is spacing between the horizontal and vertical lines. Try to keep it even

Other than that, well done You've done a really nice job there, and you have some really good looking icons.

Looks great--very clean, well-written, good content, not hitting the viewer over the head with ads . . . good job.

The one little technical flaw I noticed was that your mini portfolio images overlap the dotted boundary you have set up just a bit (I'm viewing in Safari).

I'm in the process of creating a custom WP theme for my blog (which is pre-packaged at the moment)--you'll have to review that for me in a few days (weeks?).

Thank you for the reviews. I will look into the problem with the mini portfolio.

I understand what has been said about not bombarding my readers with ads until I get more readers, but I would rather be honest with them from the start and not get them hooked then add adverts on them. I think if somebody accepts my blog with ads and all then they are more likely to stay than somebody who comes and later on I bombard them with ads.

Thanks for linking your blog to the Young Entrepreneur site--In addition to the content on your blog, this was a good resource for a lot of freelance (or small-shop) designers out there that I never would've known about.

I'm subscribing to your RSS . . . keep on bringing the good stuff!

And as a side note, I don't think the ads are overdone. I don't see myself clicking on any of them in the near future, but it doesn't turn me off as a reader--you're offering solid content, and that (to me) is the most important consideration.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but I think ur post text is kind of small and light in color I find myself struggling to read the text easily. Maybe increase the font size one point?

Distill,

Thanks for subscribing, and I am glad that you found some usefull stuff on the site, look for much more in the future. I am going to be marketing my site pretty strong soon and am planning on having some cool competitions.

Gino,

Thanks for the tip. I bumped the font size up a bit and I agree that it makes it much easier to read. I didn't even think about it since before my posts where only like 480px wide and are now close to 600px. The extra room helps and the larger font size makes it much easier to read.

Thanks Again for the tips.

Adam
