Default Critique on sketch.

Hello, This is my first design related post on this forum.

I have made a sketch for a personal portfolio, but I just don't feel I'm doing the right thing. The design isen't that bad, but it looks kind of boring. Would like some advice on what to move, delete, add and so on.

- My Sketch for 2dropsdesign.com

Would you say this is something to continue on, or is this just trash-bin material? I would like your honest opinion. Either way, I would've liked some comments about what I'm doing right and wrong.

it looks great to me, I would have the content floating in the middle and make all those background images extend to fit peoples screens, so in other words don't make the site a fixed width. let all those background colors/images extend all the way to the sides.

Great job!

I had planned on giving the site a fluid width. Thanks for the tip.

I don't feel that this is good enough design as it is. I feel the content has to little space and that everything feels a little heavy. I think I have to re-do some of this layout.

Hi Sono, I think the site looks nice! Its nicely aligned! I also like the colours.

I think the navigation (Home, About, Contact..) should be much smaller. Its clashing with the logo.

Not that important but a small spelling mistake, its "Knowledge" instead of "Knowlage". Actually, you can replace "Knowledge" with "Expertise".

Thank you georgin. I think I will try to go for a right aligned menu at the right hand side, and make the content a little less wide. I also think I need more colours in here.

I'll post an update soon.

Great layout. Definitely not trash-bin material. I think it would look better with the bottom images in color though. It would give it a different feel and also add a bit more color to the site design itself.

That might be a good idea. I was thinking of doing an all black site with colorfull graphics in the background, so the idea was to give the images colors on :hover.

I'll try to ass some colours at the image, move some of the content, and add something like a flkR-section to get a little variation in there.

As I told you, I'm not completely satisfied with the result above, so I startet over again.

- What do you think?

I think the new version is great too, but i feel its missing something like a footer to tie it in. It feels like the bottom is incomplete. and maybe you can add a slight gradient for the background instead of a white like white to a very light grey or beige color just to give it a little more life, but im not sure.

The new version is much more striking than the old one. How about extending the top black bar across the whole page (eg. 100% width)? Also the contrast between the black and white (especially the white text) is hard to read. Perhaps try a light grey for the text?
