Default Personal Site

I'm trying to come up with a design for my portfolio site. The content is going to slide down slowly using moo.fx when you click the links. What do you think? Worth working on?

Pretty cool.

Some suggestions:

-Make the main content show regardless.
-Make sure the content inside the pulldowns are colorful.
-A footer would be nice.
-Some form of navigation is always appreciated.

Good work, and good luck. =D

I love the look of the site, and agree with Cain's comments about navigation/content display.

What you have in that still image is beautiful--not in-your-face busy, but still very well filled with a sort of texture.

I especially like the bold red for the most important info against the softer b&w. In fact, it might be good to make the black bars semi-transparent, keeping the bold, hard edges on the red parts alone. Obviously, you'd have to keep it opaque enough to keep the white text legible (maybe even increase the size of the text), but I'd make the bars themselves (and any content areas they expand into) as subtle as possible, allowing those sharp red arrows to really do the work of drawing the eye--along with your portfolio images, of course.

That might even create a sort of middle ground and cohesive depth, as right now it seems like the sharp, bright red elements are right up in your face while the background image just sits behind, not really involved with the foreground (did that make sense?)

What you described about the slow reveal upon mouseover sounds very fitting with the subdued bg image.

Can't wait to see this page in action . . . good work!

Hmm, Distill has a very nice suggestion right there. Reducing the bars opacity would really make the background stick out. Also, I would suggest adding something around the contact section because it looks sort of random standing alone there by itself.

I like how your creating a spotlight to focus on what will showcase your work. If you have large scrolling work though how will that spotlight look on a longer scrolling page? Or will it just fade down to black below?

It's going to fade to black. And the background will be fixed.

Thanks for all the comments guys! I'll play around with your suggestions.
