I'd like to solicit peoples opinions on this small web ad that's going into the yellow pages in my area.
I've never done one of these artsy-typographical exercises and I'm not sure if it works or looks like a cluster&uck (my wife's favorite word). I'm usually a clean, very organized and methodical designer so I'm not sure if I overworked it or hit the target or should just give up... Thanks Chris Powers ![]() |

I think you answered it right there . . . don't do an "artsy" ad for the sake of being artsy if that's not a real representation of who you are and the work you do.
Represent your own style (as much as possible, I know it's a small ad) and get calls from people who saw that style and thought, "I'll give him a try." They'll be a better fit. Maybe that's overthinking it for a yellowpages ad, but overthinking is what I do best ![]() |

Here's an article that I think you will find helpful: (Article By Fabio Sasso)
http://abduzeedo.com/designing-web-banners Seeing the examples, you can see that the banners express what the site is about in very little space. Keep it simple but cool. Good luck =D Last edited by Cain : 02-14-2008 at 04:25 PM. |
