This is one I've been working on for my wife.
i started with a radial gradient and made it a halftone with a color overlay. did that again twice, rotating each just a touch. the photo is from our honeymoon, and the phrase is from a great song by Caribou. i think the effect turned out pretty spiffy. is it missing anything? off balance? inconsistent? cheesy? hip? too trendy? throw it at me! it'd be sized at 11"x17". |

Maybe this is just me, but I'm wondering if it would look better if you went a little more easy on the color halftone, but only a little.
Also, I think the text could be a better color or maybe have a stroke, something to make it blend a little better. And last but not least, can I see how it'd look with some kind of gradient map? However, overall, it really is a beautiful picture. I'm sure your wife will love it. =D |

I actually really like the halftone look you have going there--don't ask me why, I just do.
Cain has a good point about making the text fit better with the rest of the image--everything else has this halftone treatment with soft colors, etc. and then BAM! there's plain black text. Could you soften/color/texture it a bit to reflect the themes you've established with the rest of the image? Beautiful picture overall--I'm sure she'll love it. Is this a Valentine's Day project, or is that just a coincidence? |

interesting. i wanted to make the text pop, but i guess it does seem too strong. i'll try a few things.
It will be a Valentine's Day project, as long as I make it to Kinko's by 6pm ![]() Thanks for the input guys. Cain - re: Gradient Map, in what sense? Like a radial multiply or overlay? what'd you have in mind? |

Kinko's by 6--ah, love!
I've been there!Regarding "popping" the text--I don't know if a flat black can "pop" like you want it to (I've had success in that regard with spot varnish over the black on an otherwise matte substrate--don't think Kinko's can do that, though). I think it would have to be a warmer color in this case. Color is not my strong point, though, so does anyone else have suggestions to get this text up, up and away? |

okay, quick feedback please!
which do you like better? also, i added a real light screen radial gradient to give the corners a brighter touch and the center a bit more vivid. thanks! |

cain - cool interpretation.
but i'm quite fond of how the individual halftone patterns are blending to make purple and green. i do appreciate your input! |

I like the colors in that green one. And use the text as in your example above, the white text. Try that, see what it does. The composition of it all works like a charm
Well done!
