Uuuhm, I'm no possition to say as I don't really know the company at all, but from "computers, security, education, training, IT stuff" I'd go for a more masculine, a bit tech but not too much, clean, nondescript sans. But it's your call, and I'm not saying my choice is better than why, but if you are designing a logo then it's a fair guess you would have put some concideration into the different aspect of it, no? I was just asking you a question, it was not a trick-question but of genuine interest, when you designed this, did you give any concideration to the type? If so then will you share the thoughts you had that led you to your choice?

Then I only have one advice for you

You take care of the security, and leave the design to the designers Hire someone to make you a logo.

If you want to put the painting on the wall then you can paint, if your company will rise or fall on the painting you make, then yes, I suggest you hire a professional painted.

To be quite honest, I think your abit naïve to post this here and then claim your not a designer. The people here are 90% people who live, eat and WORK with design. To come into that space and make mockery of that work with the belief that "design is just some photoshopping, everybody can do it" is, as I said abit naïve.

....and Im no carmechanic, but Im sure I can fix your car for you anyways.

Logos and company ID is THE most important and most difficult within design. Your logo is what your audience sees and notices first. Does the logo suck? Then you automatically suck. This logo is pretty much stuck in the 90's. You could'e gotten away with it then. Not now.

By all means, if you want to train yourself to be a designer, do it! But it takes loads of practise, not just to learn how photoshop, illustrator and all the other programs work. You have to know what design is, how to design, what makes a good design, how to make a good design, what colors, typografi (fonts) and symbols mean and how your audience will read it.

Just knowing how to use photoshop DONT make you a designer. And if you want your company to be successfull, yes then you need to hire a designer.
