Default My New Site

Hey everyone.

I just finished redesigning my 4x4 Club's site. I still need to make some tweeks but it mostly finished. I need to redo the logo asap.

It looks good. Nice color scheme and overall design, but the header is a bit dull for a 4x4 site in my opinion. Maybe do something to the image and yeah a new logo would do wonders . I would also consider left aligning the text.

Maybe this is a comment for a different thread, but I'll ask here anyway . . . how did Comic Sans, out of ALL the crappy fonts out there, become THE font to ridicule? I'm genuinely interested, because I've seen this in quite a few design-related communities now . . . is this something they teach you in design school? ; ) Missed that as an english major.

Anyway, the site looks good--I would nix the comic sans (for consistency's sake) and check your image resolutions (it took an unusually long time for them to load--could've been a glitch on my end).

And "stop by and chat we want to hear from you" on the front page is asking for some kind of punctuation between "chat" and "we". That might fly with the 4x4 crowd, though . . . (my brother's got a 4x4, so I can say that).

Love the nicknames "Soupy Socks" and "Danger Dave" (I'm a sucker for alliteration).

Yeah, it's the first thing they teach you right after... uhm... no wait, it's the first thing, yes! Even the maker of the font doesn't understand why it's so popular. More ranting about this later

In 1995 Microsoft released the font Comic Sans originally designed for comic book style talk bubbles containing informational help text. Since that time the typeface has been used in countless contexts from restaurant signage to college exams to medical information. These widespread abuses of printed type threaten to erode the very foundations upon which centuries of typographic history are built.

While we recognize the font may be appropriate in a few specific instances, our position is that the only effective means of ending this epidemic of abuse is to completely ban Comic Sans.

We understand font selection is a matter of personal preference and that many people may disagree with us. However, if you agree with our position, you can sign the online petition to ban comic sans.
