Default fresh works

I've finally revamped my site last month, and added a couple of new works.

Would love to do any sorts of collabs with you guys.

I have to be honest with you, your site is extremely difficult to navigate. There is too much cluttered text and it's extemelly hard to tell what links will take me where...I would consider cleaning up the links in the top section and fashioning them in a more organized manner. Perhaps just seperate the text, put borders, add headers and subheaders to that people know what they are clicking.

I still don't know what the links highlited in blue are for.

Just a question but is this intended to be a blog?

I just did a quick fix on the top header (selected works) section.

The blue highlights are highlighted as new works.

I don't intend it to be a standalone blog...but more of all things of my works and stuffs.

Thanks for your critique. Really appreciates it.

Cheers.

It's getting there. THe thing is that it is too much text in the top. I don't know, personally, I like something like this:

http://nyssajbrown.net/portfolio
http://elitebydesign.com/portfolio

Yeah I agree with Brian, your site has is nice, but right when I first got there, I looked up at the top links and sort of got confused and bored.

When users go to your site, the first thing they want to see is your content, especially if it's your portfolio. So instead of having links to your works at the top, just display the works themselves on the home page. That's a lot less clicks for your users.

I would narrow your top navigation to the links with the back highlight.

Cool Herman you sure got lots of creative vibes going on, judging from your art work, I really like the Futurism typographic book and Life after. And some great photography. What camera(s) do you have?

It's just too bad the site is a bit dull, but that can be just me being spoiled with great designs and all... No really, it made me reload the page because I thought my browser forgot to load a CSS file. Add some pinches of that marvelous creativity you use in your work to your site and it will surely rock!
And if you need any help, feel free to ask.

I would actually disagree with the critism here (but not discard them, I'm just offering another point of view).
I think the layout is really great! It's simple, it puts focus to your works and not your website (a very common error in portfolios), which of course is a plus since it seems you work mostly in print. You present your images very well (you don't just put the picture in there, but pictures of your works when printed!) and supply a good short description of them. I think it's very refreshing to see such a site which isn't a fancy overdone flash-page but simple black-on-white. Your work is also great, and has a high standard, which leads to the problems I find with your site:

First of all, I looked at your portfolio and thought "hey! good designer!!", and I read the "about" section and suddenly I would think twice before I would hire you (if I was a client). I don't know why you would put so much effort into making such a big portfolio and then stepping and shitting all over it by saying you are a "wannabe designer". I've debated this subject before, but in my opinion I think such a section is best presented in the first person. Either write in first person and keep it informal, or you can write in third person and be more formal. "He thinks Chuck Norris is overrated." just seems a bit off. Work on the about-section and don't degrade yourself, present yourself as a professional and others will see you as one as well

Your work is amazing! I love the simplicity of your site, but you COULD show thumbnails of your work to help draw people in a little more, but its up to you. I think its fine either way.
