This will be a text based tutorial, that will show you how you can make a fast text logo.

1. Make a new image, 500x500 did i choose.

2. Write your text - ive used size 60

3. Go to blending options and use this : http://quickshare.biz/images/1199488906_textlogo1.png

4. Duplicate your layer - press ctrl+J for duplicate

5. Go to Edit->Transform->Flip Vertical

6. Move your flipped text under your main text and change the opacity to 11%

Yes good job! That reflection is a great thing to learn and can really be used a lot.

Although it may be good for beginners. I think we should sort of divide the tutorial section of the forums up. Have one with just links to resources for beginners, then have the tutorials be more advanced. I'm working on one for commercial/stylistic photo enhancements. (Sorry not trying to steal your thunder or whatever just the few tutes we have are extremely basic).

Terribly sorry about this, but
I disagree so bad it hurts! The reflection thing is beautiful and I got an orgasm the first time I saw iTunes-coverflow. I've used the reflection myself too, but now it's everywhere, and it's beginning to say less "ooh nice and shiny effect" and more "generic web2.0". Putting that effect on a logo is like buying bigger speakers for your car. It can be good in some cases, but it's in no way "instant coolness" like it seems it is now. I'm sorry if this sounds agressive or attacking, it's really not meant like that, I'm just saying my point of view on it. I try to be constructive, in my opinion it's not a good thing if every new designer see this as an "instant coolness, just add text"-thing. It is in some ways like helvetica, it can make your design look really good, but it's so overused that you run the risk of it looking generic.

There are some things I'd like to comment about the logo too, but I realize that this is a tutorial and not a logo, so I'll shut up.

One more thing and I'll stop beeing a sour old hag:
This should really be called text effect tutorial and not a logo tutorial.

there

on a more positive note I think it's a well written tutorial, and shows some important technical techniques ^_^ So keep it up and nevermind me beeing negative

I guess alyCe has a good point of view. It's not really a logo. The simplest logos have text (like this tutorial) and a little piece of graphic with them. This is indeed a text effect tutorial, not a text logo one. but it has 2 things that begginers should know, 1 is the reflection effect and 2 is the gradient effect.
