Organising your time

I was just wondering how everyone goes about organising their time with design projects, work etc.

So far I'm trying out the 3 things a day way of working in which you do only 3 things in the day based on which would be more productive instead of urgency. Overall, it's working well for me at the minute. I'm definitely getting things done as I tend to procrastinate a lot without some form of to do list.

So, do you just have one big to-do list? Or maybe no organisation at all?

I think I belong to the "no organisation at all" category. Right now I have about 6572 projects going

. I tend to start all these projects with the best intentions, but I very rarely finish things off unless it's commercial work. I keep adding stuff to old pieces and I find it hard to decide when a certain design is finished. Even when I finish things, I think it's crap 2 days later and start something else

. I think a to-do list would be good, or some sort of personal deadlines. Like "finish this piece before 2009"

Haha I'm just the same. I always start with all this motivation and in the end I just get bored and want to do somethign else. I'm also very self critical with my own work. I'm never always happy with the final outcome. They do say you'll always be the hardest client to do work for.

I keep a note pad at all times with everything I need to do on it. I update it constantly and i have ways to mark things on my list or group things so I know what stuff is most important to do.

I will also dedicate a page each night to the most important stuff I have to do for the next day.

I updated it several times a day and I like the feeling of crossing stuff out. It gives you a sense of accomplishment and you feel productive as you plow through your to do list!

I would be doomed without being extremely organized!

Yeh that satisfaction of crossing things out can really motivate. I have a little notepad and a sketchpad. Moleskine all the way! I'm gonna start putting them to use properly, just doodling, writing thoughts etc and maybe use my notepad as a to-do list.
