Have you ever said no to a client? Why?

Yes, I did assy no to a client because he wanted to develop the whole site for him first and then he will pay me "IF" the site does well. This sounded like a joke to me first and then so absurd. I right away said that I have business to run and these kind of jokes will not be entertained .

Once again I said no to a client. On the first hand I agreed to do the web design at a lower price since someone close referred them to me. Next, they wanted me to give the webhosting package + full year maintenance for free. I right away said that I can do the design but I am sorry I cannot do the later ones. Anyhow, the client went ahead with me although at one point I thought I have lost the project.

There are times when you really need to decide if the tradeoff is worth doing or not.

Yes I've said no to a few clients.

Why? Usually because either I won't enjoy the project, they won't pay me for the hours or it's totally against my moral as a designer to do " Bad Design "

I have told clients that I would not do their project for multiple reasons.

Not enough money
Deadlines too tight
Asshole clients
Competition type projects
Wanted a bad design
etc....

I believe its not about how many different people you can work for, but the quality of the work you do.

Be selctive, because there's always someone else who can pick up the garbage.

Yeah I usually avoid clients who are sketchy with payment related issues. Also some clients are extremely overbearing. I don't mind being directed, but sometimes they give you no freedom whatsoever.

Yes, many times. But only because I was like somewhere between the age of 14-16 or so and I was just doing graphic design for fun. People kept contacting me though and trying to hire me, offering good pay, etc... but I was like, "But I'm just a kid!" But I was flattered. And now that I'm 17 and def considering graphic design as a career, I'm starting to consider people and companies when they want to hire me.
