I'm curious to know...
When did you start doing graphic design?

How did you start doing graphic design (i.e., what programs did you use, did you start by going to school/courses for design, etc...)?

Why did you start doing graphic design? What was your motivation?

Ok, I guess I'll go first!

When did you start doing graphic design?
About 5 years ago, age 12.

How did you start doing graphic design (i.e., what programs did you use, did you start by going to school/courses for design, etc...)?
I started by using Paint. But I realized a bit later that my computer had come with a free trial of Paint Shop Pro 7. As it turns out the trial part of my 30-day trial malfunctioned, and it greets me now, "Welcome to day 1537 of you're 30 day trial" so that's what I've been using ever since. I didn't take any courses though, just looked at some other people's work for ideas, and then just played around and experimented.

Why did you start doing graphic design? What was your motivation?
Because I wanted to be able to make a website. And because I was a part of a community where a lot of young people did web and graphic design and I wanted to do it too!

i started when i seen my friends brother useing photoshop and i thought was cool so he showed me some stuff and gave me a copy and i started to mess with it and he showed some tips and ive been doing it evers since.

Why did you start doing graphic design? What was your motivation?
just something i got into and happen to love and hope to make into a career

-14-ish....try to forget those years though...

-I started off with a copy of photoshop, then a couple years later took a computer art class at school. Yep.

Why?
-I love art, and especially the design portion of it. I love GD because its everywhere and affects everyone.

I was bored at college and had photoshop on my laptop. However I have always been interested in creating websites, so I suppose it was a natural progression from creating art for those.

Why?
To be honest with you, I dont know why. It just feels right. I might just be starting out and not brilliant at it at the mo but Everyone needs to start somewhere... Right??

Helped my dad design t-shirts on an old Macintosh Classic.

Why
After learning what my dad taught me, I wanted to go above and beyond. Later I would have gotten a copy of Paint Shop Pro, learned that it sucked, and started using Photoshop.

When: Probably when around the time I started making graphics for my first website around aggggggggggggggge 12?

How: A pirated version of photoshop v4 or 5.

Why: I went through a deep philosophy period in high school while trying to figure things out and just started seeing connections between that and art which led to an art group which led to a deeper interest in design.

Motivation: Connecting with people. Life is about the people and connecting for split seconds throughout the day through different mediums is what I like about design. I crave things simplistically brilliant.

Photoshop - flash and anything i could get my hand on. School? Courses? What are they?

Why did you start doing graphic design? What was your motivation?

Just wanted to create pretty pictures.

I started when I was in 10th grade. That was in 2001 so I was 15.

I started out with Photoshop & Flash. Took a web design course at my high school. We never really did anything in class so while all the other students screwed around on the web and skipped class I actually tried to figure some stuff out.

I was active online when DeviantArt first started. I would browse it constantly and see all the crazy art people would come up with. Inspired me to "borrow" a copy of Photoshop from the school and start messin with it. That's pretty much it. I've always been artistic as a kid, figured I would do something in the field.

Started designing last year after a friend from an online game introduced me to it.

Started using photoshop 7.0 for a while, but found out that it was outdated so I got cs2 and then cs3. Now I am getting into illustrator and Sony Vegas, as well as, a little bit of flash!

Why did you start doing graphic design? What was your motivation? I started graphic design because it looked fun and it was fun when I started. Just continued on from there. I like making visually appealing pieces. =D

DANG I feel old! I can't remember when I started. Maybe 7 or 8? I started designing anything and everything I could. I got my first Apple in 1978 then came the AppleII then the II+ and so on. I guess it wasn't till the late 80's early 90's that I really started using programs to do any design. I was ol skool! When cut and paste was cut out pictures and glue them together. lol Then I used a photocopier long before I ever used a program. Then I started designing signs and what not first year in high school 1984? My dad was an airbrush artist back then so design was what we did. Dad was a Greaser mom was a hippy go figure..... We had art and music in my house. Our TV was like 9" or something. We only turned it on to watch for storms or other news. I guess thats why out of the 6 kids my parents had, we all sing and enjoy art. 2 of us became graphic designers, 2 went into internet security, 1 Publisher, and 1 runs a recording studio. But man I still feel old now lol.
