Default Question about Linking to tutorials

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum and im sorry if it is in the wrong section.

Basically I was wondering, is there anything wrong with me going around the web, looking for my favorite tutorials and then linking to them from my blog? I do not copy and paste the tutorial into my blog or anything like that, but I just write a description about what you will be learning and then link to it.

Also, the only thing I do is take the sample image they provide in the tutorial and use it as a picture example for the tutorial.

Any tips, answers, suggestions are appreciated.

There is nothing wrong with putting links to tutorials with description. With images there are copyright issues. Try emailing the authors for permission. Most of the time though no one will care if you link to there tutorials and include an image. I personally wouldn't be concerned with doing that, but that is your call. The size of image you use can also make a difference. Check out how the tutorial list sites like good-tutorials.com handle it. They use really small images, like 40px by 40px. That helps to infringe less on anyones graphics. Ultimately, you linking to them helps them out so its unlikely anyone would have a problem with this.

I'm pretty sure you can link to anything you want no problem and even use an image from the site as long as you link back to them. I would write a nice description about the tutorial or even do a tutorial round up and link to 3 great new tutorials you found for a blog post.

Trust me they will appreciate any traffic you send them. Just don't copy and paste their tutorial on your site or copy a bunch of text they wrote. using small quotes is fine but not to much or it might be marked as duplicate content by search engines.

It's like asking if McDonalds are going to sue you for going around handing out flyers with a macdonals-logo and their local adress. I doubt they'll mind

Great summary! Likewise imagine what would happen if you went around selling Big Macs rebranded as your own product.

The same goes with tutorials, nobody minds the additional exposure as long as the original article is credited or linked to as necessary.

Then you'd probably get whacked in the head for promoting your burgers as bigger than they actually are But that's a bit beside the point I guess
