designhide

so, i have recently launched a new site called designhide.com (hence the username). I have launched a few sites in the past with the hopes of making money off of ads (mostly using adsense) and have been mostly unsuccessful, earning typically about $1-$2 per day.

with this new site, i decided that I would scrap even thinking about monetization until after I had built a solid user base and started generating some sort of consistent traffic.

anyway, i am just wondering if anyone has tried this or if this is a common way to start a site. I am really working hard on building traffic the right way with this site, but as always, it is difficult.

as well, i'd love to get some feedback on the site and the idea. i realize there are plenty of worthless "designer directories" out there, but I've made an effort to make this one different and the goal is really to provide a reasonably useful tool for designers. I'd also like to add more content in the future so if anyone has any ideas or would like to provide an interesting article, i would happily feature you on the site.
