I currently have an external drive that has been used for backing up PC data.
Now I would like to partition that drive so I may use it to back up my MAC files too. I went to the disk utility and searched there, does anyone know if I will lose the data thats currently on it, or if theres a better way to partition this drive? Thanks |

Yes if I'm not mistaken, you will lose what ever is on the drive to begin with.
I remember wanting to do the same thing but it came up with a warning telling me I would lose all current data on the drive. So I had to transfer everything back to my computer partition the ex.drive then transfer everything back. |

What you could do is...back up the data thats on the backup drive (lolz) then partition the drive as FAT32 then put the data back on it so it will be able to be accessible between both operating systems. I'm not 100% sure that MACs can write as well as read to FAT32 but it should, try a Google search first.
